LocateTV - imdb for your telly

I've been having a little play with LocateTV (currently in beta, thank you vladski for the linkup). I stopped using TV listings services years ago, I just hop through the epg to see what's on. But what I really like about this is the ability to find out when a particular programme is next on. Particularly useful for finding those pesky Heroes repeats. A search reveals when it's next on, whether there are any dvds I can buy, cast list, synopsis, actor links, if it's available on the web etc. Oh, and it creates little embeddable badges, comme ca:

Click to see LocateTV results for Heroes » Season 1 Episode 7 » Nothing to Hide. Always up to date, always relevant to you.

I've got a couple of things I'd really like to see with this.

  • First (and top of my list) would be a buddy list. I'd like to see what telly my friends are watching, be able to recommend shows they might like and message them.
  • I'd like to be able to rate and review shows, and see other people's ratings
  • I'd like LocateTV to remember my searches and what I've tagged as shows I'm interested in. And use this to recommend other stuff to me.
  • And I'd like to be able to export this information into my blog/myspace/facebook/yahoo pages.

That would be very cool indeed.

[edit to add, according to their blog they're considering some of this already. which is nice.]

Hi Hilary, Glad you're enjoying the site and great to see your feedback - yep in my blog post today I covered some of these issues - lots of these personalised features are being considered for the future although it's always a balance between keeping the site clean and Google-esque yet having all the customised mashup Web 2.0-esque stuff that people are increasingly used to...

Keep giving us your thoughts and let us know if any of your readers want to apply to be testers as well.

Cheers - Lottie
